The art of mindfulness can transform our struggles with food and renew our sense of pleasure, appreciation, and satisfaction with eating.

Mindfulness is deliberately paying attention, being fully aware of what is happening both inside yourself-in your body, heart, and mind-and outside yourself, in your environment. Mindfulness is awareness without judgment or criticism. The last element is key. In mindful eating we are not comparing or judging. We are simply witnessing the many sensations, thoughts, and emotions that come up around eating. This is done in a straightforward, no-nonsense way, but it is warmed with kindness and spiced with curiosity.

Mindful Eating by Jan Chozen Bays, MD

“we require new ways of thinking…to ensure the well-being of people alive today – as well as the generations who follow…”

“Mindfulness a new way of thinking from an old way of thinking”

Shelly has recently finished a teacher training programme in Mindful Eating Conscious Living with Dr. Jan Chozen Bays and Char Wilkins. She found that she could draw on her mindfulness skills to hone in on her own relationship with food. From this programme and her own experience with numerous diets, she realised that diets just don’t work.

Shelly will be taking her experience of teaching and practicing mindfulness; combining this with a passion to truly embody mindful eating, to deliver an inspirational mindful eating programme.

Mindful eating is an approach that involves bringing one’s full attention to the process of eating-to all the tastes, smells, thoughts, and feelings that arise during a meal. Whether you are overweight, suffer from an eating disorder, or just want to get more out of life, this offers a simple tool that can make a remarkable difference.

On this course you will learn how to:

  • Tune into your body’s own wisdom about what, when, and how much to eat
  • Eat less while feeling fully satisfied
  • Identify your habits and patterns with food
  • Develop a more compassionate attitude toward your struggles with eating
  • Discover what you’re really hungry for
  • Better well being – physically and mentally
